Waita the Kitty (waitathekitty.org) exists for two reasons. The first is to find Waita, my missing cat, by getting enough neighbors watching for her that someone who sees her knows who to call. The second is to do the same for other families in Silverlake, Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs, Lehi, and the surrounding communities within about ten miles. The idea is a network — neighbors looking out for each other's pets while they look for their own, so that one person walking at night is really several people covering ground. This is a personal, unpaid effort run by one person from my own home. It is not a shelter, rescue, animal control agency, pet detective service, or business. Nothing is charged, nothing is sold, and no donations are accepted.

What I do. If you call me about your missing cat, I add your pet to the watchlist on this site. I search the online lost-and-found pet communities I have access to, the same ones I search for my own cat, and I tell you what I find. I pass along contacts for shelters, veterinary clinics, and animal control. I help you design a flyer. I help you plan where to search using a map. When I'm out on foot at night looking for Waita, I watch for your cat too, and I follow up on any sign of her. I track local wildlife activity — coyotes, foxes, badgers, raccoons — and map what I find so people can search with it in mind. And I'll talk with you, because I know what this feels like.

What I don't do. I don't print or distribute flyers. I don't search on your behalf or go out on request. I don't take custody of animals, trap, transport, or foster them. I don't contact shelters, rescues, or agencies for you — I give you the contacts and you make the call. I don't verify that a sighting is real, that a photo matches the pet it's attached to, or that someone contacting you is who they claim to be. I don't promise your pet will be found, and I can't promise how long a listing stays up or how many people will see it. My wildlife notes are one person's observations from walking a neighborhood, not expert or scientific findings, and any encouragement I offer is from a neighbor who has been through this, not counseling or professional advice of any kind.

Nearly everything on this site comes from the public, and you should treat it as a lead rather than a fact. When you submit a listing, sighting, or photo, you're confirming the information is accurate as far as you know and that the photo is yours or you have permission to share it. You're giving me permission to publish it here and to post it in the lost-and-found pet communities where I search, only for the purpose of finding that pet. You keep ownership and can ask me to take it down anytime. Your phone number appears on your listing only if you chose that on the form. Please don't collect contact details from this site for marketing or resale, solicit owners, submit false listings or sightings, claim to have found a pet you haven't, ask anyone for money to return a pet, harass or impersonate anyone, or copy the site's content in bulk. I may edit, decline, or remove anything and block access at my discretion. Where this site describes suspected fraud, I'm reporting conduct that was reported to me or that I observed — not reaching a verdict about any person. If something posted about you is wrong, text me and I'll review it right away.

If something here leads you to meet someone, that's between you and them and I'm not part of it. Meet in daylight in a public place, bring someone, tell a friend where you're going, and have any found animal scanned for a microchip at a vet or animal control. Searching at night carries real risks — wildlife, traffic, private property, uneven ground — and those are yours to weigh. This site is offered as-is, free, by one person, and to the fullest extent the law allows I'm not liable for any loss or harm connected to it, including a pet not found, a pet found and harmed, a sighting that was wrong, or anything that happens between people who met through this site. These terms are governed by Utah law and may change over time. Everything comes through me directly.
